ON THE SLOPES OF ETNA: ETNA DOC WINES, THE IDEAL SUMMER CHOICE
The majestic and imposing profile of Etna stands out against one of the most important territories for Duca di Salaparuta: the Vajasindi Estate, located in north-eastern Sicily, on the slopes of the volcano, next to the Alcantara valley, in the municipality of Castiglione di Sicilia and Randazzo. In this volcanic soil, so rich in minerals, exquisite native Sicilian vines are grown: Carricante and Nerello Mascalese.
Two wines come to life from these grapes, Lavico Etna Bianco and Lavico Etna Rosso, expressions of a unique territory, which naturally offer intense, sapid and fresh nuances on the palate. Ideal for summer consumption, in particular Lavico Etna Bianco, with its aromas of peach and exotic fruit, lit by iodized sensations, sometimes spicy, which goes perfectly with fish-based dishes.
But for lovers of aperitifs and bubbles, the perfect summer choice may be another wine that has its roots in the Vajasindi Estate: Duca Nero, our own Pinot Noir made with the Charmat method, which combines the elegance and freshness of its aroma with a uniquely mineral taste. Excellent as an aperitif, perfect throughout the meal, Duca Nero is the new, truly Sicilian expression of sparkling wines.
Three choices that we recommend for the summer, fresh from the great success achieved at the latest Vinitaly, the most important international fair dedicated to the world of wine which was held in Verona from April 2nd to the 4th.
